Ang transistor The transistor — a small current that controls a big one

Malalim na aralinDeep dive 2 · high school

Tagalog: draft — for Kate / Janet to check.  Numbers are typical for a small NPN (β = 100), not one exact part.

1. Tatlong paa: E, B, C Three legs: Emitter, Base, Collector

Dalawang trabaho: switch at amplifier. Tingnan ang datasheet para sa ayos ng paa. Two jobs: a switch and an amplifier. Check the datasheet for the pin order.

2. Maliit na kumokontrol sa malaki Small controls big

Kailangan ng ~0.6–0.7 V sa base para bumukas. IC = β × IB (hal. 100 × 1 mA = 100 mA). About 0.6–0.7 V on the base turns it on. Collector current = beta × base current.

3. Amplifier

Maliit na pagbabago sa base → malaking pagbabago sa collector. A small wiggle at the base becomes a big wiggle at the collector.

4. NPN at PNP

NPN: nagsasama ang kuryente (B + C → E). PNP: naghihiwalay (E → B + C). Ang palaso ay nasa emitter. NPN currents combine into the emitter; PNP currents split out of it. The arrow is on the emitter. NPN: "Not Pointing iN".

5. Sa loob Inside

Dalawang PN junction. Manipis at kaunti ang butas ng base, kaya karamihan ng electron ay dumidiretso sa collector. Two junctions. The base is thin and lightly doped, so most electrons shoot straight through to the collector.

6. Init Heat

Mas maraming kuryente, mas mainit. Gumamit ng heatsink. More current, more heat. Big transistors need a heatsink.
